What are UPSC (Union Public Service Commission)?
UPSC is commonly known as Union Public Service commission and is a Premier Central recruiting agency. UPSC is responsible for appointing & examination of All India services & all the central services which lies in Group A & Group B Category. The civil services exam is considered the most difficult exam in India. It is based on British era. The test was also conducted by the Old Indian Empire like Mauryan Empire & Mughal Empire.
UPSC Civil services exams Include IAS (Indian Administrative Service), IPS (Indian Police Service), IFS (Indian Foreign Service). These all are called Civil services of India. These are the most reputed & most difficult posts for an Individual. It is conducted in 3 Phases:
Preliminary Exam is also known as Prelims. It consists of 2 Objective type paper (GS 1 & GS 2) also known as Civil services Aptitude Test or CSAT. Those who score above the cut-off marks will get the entry to write the mains exam.

-   Paper A & Paper B are of Qualifying Nature.
-   Total Marks – 1750
-   Interview – 275
-   Grand Total – 2075
-   The aspirants can choose their medium of writing civil services exam.
-   The candidate who gets the above cut-off marks in the mains will get the summons for the interview.

The candidate who clear the mains exam and achieve the cut-off marks are called for interview or Personality test

UPSC Civil Services 2020 Notification

  • UPSC Civil services 2020 notification is expected month of February 2nd week.
  • Form filling will start from the same date when UPSC Civil services 2020 notification will release.
  • The last date to fill the form will be the 1st week of March.

 Civil Services Exam 2020 Date

  • UPSC Civil services Exam 2020 would be going to held in May. The expected date is 31st May 2020 (SUNDAY) for the Prelims Exam. This exam is a 1-day exam.
  • The expected date for UPSC Civil services 2020 Mains exam is 18th September 2020. The exam will continue for 5 days.

Eligibility for UPSC Civil services 2020

For IAS & IPS Exams, The candidate must be the citizen of India.
For other services, the candidate must be either:
·         A citizen of India.
·         A subject of Nepal
·         A subject of Bhutan
·         Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1stJanuary 1962 with the intention of permanently setting in India.
·         A person of India Origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia & Vietnam with the intention of permanently setting in India.

Age Limit:
  •          A candidate must be the age of 21 years and not have attended the age of 32 Years on 1st august 2019.
  •         The age limit prescribed will be relaxable:
  •         Up to a maximum of 5 years, if a candidate belongs to SC & ST category.
  •    Up to a maximum of 3 years, If a candidate belongs to the OBC category.
  •      Up to a maximum of 3 years, If a candidate belongs to Defence Service Personnel.
  •        Up to a maximum of 5 years, if a candidate is an Ex-serviceman including commissioned officer & ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least 5 years of service as on 1st august 2019 & have been released.


No. Of Attempts:

  • Every candidate who is appearing for UPSC Civil services Examination is permitted for 6 attempts for the exam. The restriction on a number of attempts will not apply to SC / ST category.
  • The number of attempts for OBC category is 9.
  • Physically handicapped will get as many as available attempts, while a physically handicapped belongs to general category will get 9 attempts.
  • An attempt at a Preliminary Examination shall be deemed to be an attempt at the Civil Services Examination.
  •  If a candidate actually appears in any one paper in the Preliminary Examination, he/she shall be deemed to have made an attempt at the Examination.
  • Notwithstanding the disqualification/ cancellation of candidature, the fact of appearance of the candidate at the examination will count as an attempt.
